ATS slams annexe door on officer?s car

A PIQUANT situation prevailed at the gate of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan annexe secretariat when the security staff & the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) deployed there to search vehicles entered into a heated arguments over the entry of a senior IAS officer.

A PIQUANT situation prevailed at the gate of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan annexe secretariat when the security staff & the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) deployed there to search vehicles entered into a heated arguments over the entry of a senior IAS officer.

Senior IAS officer Lalit Verma had reached the secretariat annexe for some official work. As his car carried a 2005 sticker, the vehicle was stopped by the ATS.

At this, Verma got down from his car and walked down to the secretariat. As many security personnel knew the IAS officer they objected to the treatment meted out to him. Soon, both the sides entered into an argument. Senior security officers, however, intervened to avert a clash.

Later, the issue was taken to the CM’s secretariat. The secretariat security staff said the ATS security men were meant only for searching cars, while allowing entry of vehicles was their prerogative. The ATS staff, however, insisted that checking unauthorised entry was also part of their duty.
