The condition of five persons, who sustained serious burn injuries on Saturday's attack by MRPS activists on Gandhi Bhavan, the state Congress headquarters in Hyderabad, continued to be critical on Monday.
Subramanya Raju, the Special Police Officer (SPO), who suffered 90 per cent burns while trying to prevent the Madiga Reservtion Porata Samithi (MRPS) activists from carrying out the attack is critical at the private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
"He has bandage all over the body. He is speaking with great difficulty," the SPO's father R Raju told reporters.
Subramanya Raju, who served in the defence forces for about two decades, was serving as SPO at the Gandhi Bhavan.
Several senior Congress leaders visited him at the hospital. "He is the sole bread-winner in the family. We have two young daughters. We are all dependent on him," Raju's wife said.
Another employee of Gandhi Bhavan, Deepak, is also undergoing treatment for the burn injuries. Meanwhile, the three MRPS activists were also in a serious condition after suffering serious injuries in the incident.
Surender, a MRPS worker, has succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Sunday.
