After BCCI President Sharad Pawar blasted the Australians for their 'totally uncivilised' behaviour, skipper Ricky Ponting and Cricket Australia on Thursday apologised to him for the nudging incident on the presentation dais of Champions Trophy.
On the day Australian press carried stinging comments by Pawar, the Aussie skipper rang him up and expressed regrets.
The BCCI chief, who two days ago had dismissed the incident as done in the excitement of the moment and over-hyped by TV channels, was today quoted as saying in an Australian newspaper that he had kept quiet because he did not want to spoil the good relations with the Australian board.
Wasting no time, Cricket Australia sent a letter to Pawar tendering an apology for the entire episode.
Ponting also rang up Pawar in the evening and said there was no intention to misbehave with anyone as all the Australian players respected him, BCCI sources said.
They said Pawar told Ponting that as it is he had not made an issue of it and the BCCI did not lodge any official protest with Cricket Australia.
The matter is closed as far as the BCCI is concerned, Pawar said.

{{/usCountry}}The report in the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Pawar as saying, "I will not react to this other than to say it was totally uncivilised.
"This is not good at all but I have decided to play it down because we have an extremely good relationship with the Australian board and we would like to keep that going."
