A tourism team from Australia is holding roadshows and promotional activities in Mumbai and Delhi.

"We see India as the fastest growing market and we are proactively showcasing Australian Outback Spectacular Theme to the Indian tourists," International Consumer Marketing Manager, Deborah Holland said.

"Since, cricket is a passion in this country, we are capitalising on it by organising a Cricket match between QueensLand XI and Indian XI consisting of tour operators and agents from India", added Holland.

For making the visa application procedures more tourist friendly and convenient, the Australian Government was also planning to go online, Holland said.

Currently 68,000 tourist travel to Australia every year and the numbers are growing by 17 per cent on a year-on-year basis. The Indian tourists, as on November 2005, were the highest number with a growth of 50 per cent over last year (2004-05), Tourism Queensland Regional Director India Paul Buggy said.
