It has formed a task force headed by VA Devpujari, chief architect and town planner, who has issued notices to about 300 offenders.

The authority took the action after it received several complaints from residents regarding plot or flat owners who had illegally extended their houses, causing inconvenience to neighbours.

As part of the first phase of its drive, the task force has been inspecting the houses and issuing notices to offenders.

"Once notices are issued to all the offenders, the authority will start demolishing the illegal portion," said an authority official.

The authority has issued notices to residents in sectors 12, 49, 71, etc. Illegal expansion of houses is rampant in sectors 12, 19, 21, 25, 71, 40 and 49, among other areas.

"We launched the drive after receiving many complaints. The authority will take strict action against the violators," said Sanjeev Saran, CEO, Noida authority.

"Our neighbour has carried out illegal construction in his house’s rear part. He has used all the space, which should have been left out. As a result, our house does not get sunlight and fresh air," said a resident of Sector 49.

"Besides, in case of an emergency, fire tenders will not be able to reach any house in my locality because of illegal constructions," he added.
