To celebrate the swearing-in of AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister, an auto driver on Monday offered his service by taking passengers for one rupee to any place in the city.
45-year old Mathivanan has been plying the auto rickshaw for the last 25 years, and is an ardent fan of late chief minister M G Ramachandran, who founded AIADMK.
After MGR, he continued his loyalty to AIADMK and became a fan of Jayalalithaa, Mathivanan told reporters.

As part of the celebrations of the victory of his party for second time in succession, he came out with the novel idea of taking passengers for one rupee any where in the city, he said.
For this, he pasted a sticker on his auto stating that only Re one would be charged on Monday for travelling in the vehicle, as part of Jayalalithaa’s taking charge as chief minister.
Over 80 passengers travelled in the auto, from Lakshmi Mills Junction to Railway Station to Ondipudur to Nehru Stadium, Mathivanan said.
