IN A major reshuffle, 16 IPS officials, including the top police officers posted in the dacoit-infested Gwalior and Chambal ranges, were shifted on Wednesday.
Sarabjeet Singh has been posted as IG Gwalior Range while Vijay Yadav has been posted as IG Chambal Range. Apart from them, the DIGs of both the ranges and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Gwalior, Morena, Shivpuri and Sheopur were transferred in the administrative overhaul.
The reshuffle was apparently affected owing to failure of police in curbing the activities of the dreaded Gadaria gang in the region.
Sanjay Rana, who was IG Gwalior, has been shifted to Home Department as Secretary while Secretary (Home) Sarabjeet Singh has been posted as IG (Gwalior Range). IG Intelligence Vijay Yadav has been posted as IG (Chambal Range).
DIG Gwalior Range Sanjay Mane and DIG Chambal Range Arun Pratap Singh have been shifted to Police Headquarters. Manmeet Singh Narang, who was SP Gwalior, has been shifted to PHQ and would be replaced by Sanjeev Shami. Morena SP Ravi Kumar Gupta and Shivpuri SP R S Meena have both been shifted to PHQ.
While Sajid Farid Shapu, who as posted at Satna, has been posted as Shivpuri SP, Yogesh Chaudhary has been shifted from Chhatarpur to Morena.
D S Korbu has been transferred from SP Sheopur to PHQ and would be replaced by Abhay Singh. K K Lohani, who was posted in Lokayukta, has been posted as SP Chhatarpur. Amongst other postings, D P Gupta has been shifted from Guna to SP Satna and SP Vivek Sharma from PHQ to Guna in the same capacity.

{{/usCountry}}The overhaul was in the offing as the State Government had faced embarrassment due to the failure of the anti-dacoity operations. The eight persons abducted by the Gadaria gang from Sheopur had reportedly been released after paying ransom. Besides, the gang members could not be arrested or killed. Apart from Gadaria, almost a dozen other dacoit gangs including that of Jagjivan Parihar, Vakila and Salim Gujjar are active in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
