Priyanka and Arvind Dagar can finally heave a sigh of relief. The couple's 16-month-old son, Ansh, was successfully operated for renal and lower ureteric stone at a city-based hospital recently.
The left renal stone was of 1x1 cm and was removed by the latest endoscopic technique Mini Perc. The ureteric stone was of 1.2x0.4 cm.
"It was an unusual case. Generally, stones don't form at this age. It was also comparatively bigger in size. Hence, surgery was the only option," said Dr SP Yadav, urologist and director of Pushpanjali Hospital, where the child was operated upon on.
"In the surgery, a small incision of 5-7 mm was made. The stone was fragmented by laser and pieces were removed in an hour," Yadav added.
An ecstatic Arvind Dagar, Ansh's father, said, "He is our only child. He had been suffering from cold from the last 20-25 days. He also had frequent abdominal pain. Later, the ultrasound revealed that he had lower ureteric stone."
Hailing from Rohtak, Dagar said, "Ansh is fine in three days. He will be discharged soon."
