“Urbanisation is taking place at Badlapur at an alarming rate, which is three times more than that in Mumbai and Thane. So, to protect the environment and create awareness among the youth, our organisation has decided to take this initiative. We wanted an event to pull in people of Kulgoan-Badlapur area, including the youth, and so decided to organise the 35-km cycling race, from Katrap chowk to Barvi Dam,”

said Shailesh Vadnare, president, ASL.

“We will also make a proposal to the Kulgoan-Badlapur Municipal Council to felicitate and give house tax benefits to a person, family or society, helping the council to protect the environment by implementation of rainwater harvesting, plantation, terrace garden, kitchen garden, using solar energy or using cycles to commute within an area of 5 sqkm,” he added.
