The Special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court on Tuesday cancelled the bail application of two alleged drug peddlers arrested over the October 5 rave party. It remanded both to judicial custody.
Public Prosecutor RV Kini argued that Rajesh Talwar and Salil Khothari were found in possession of 35 gms and 47 gms of psychotropic substance and that the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) needed to interrogate them.
“We argued that we want to interrogate them thoroughly and we have moved an application seeking their custody. The court is likely to give the order on the application on Wednesday,” said Kini.
The court is also likely to pass an order on the bail application of both the accused, said Kini.
On October 5, 2008, sleuths of Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) raided a restaurant-cum-bar, Bombay 72 Degree East, at Juhu Tara Road in Juhu. A total of 246 people — including drug peddlers, models, fashion designers, businessmen and students — were booked.
The ANC had conducted a raid after a tip-off that charas, ganja, Ecstasy, LSD and cocaine were being sold by the drug peddlers at the pub.
