Normal life was disrupted in Orissa's Kandhamal district on Wednesday following a 12-hour bandh called by tribals demanding a new subdivision.

Shops and business establishments, schools, colleges, banks and government offices were closed or recorded thin attendance and traffic was off the roads in the tribal-dominated district, the police said.

The bandh was called by the Kui Samaj Samanwaya Samiti (KSSS) demanding a new sub-division in Ghumsar Udayagiri.
