After Friday prayers on Friday, a group of about nearly 50 people took out a procession from Jamia Masjid here, about 187-kms from Jammu, and raised pro-freedom slogans to protest the killings of civilians allegedly by security forces in the Valley, officials said.

As police tried to stop them, the protesters indulged in stone pelting, prompting the forces to resort to baton charge and fire few tear gas shells to disperse them, they said.

About six persons, including four policemen received injuries during the skirmishes.

Later, police picked up 8 youths last evening and three others today for indulging in violence, they said.
