Amid tight security, fresh batch of 1,823 pilgrims on Sunday left Jammu for their onward journey to 3,888 metre high cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

From Jammu base camp, 26th batch of pilgrims, comprising of 1,140 men, 334 women, 289 Sadhus and 60 children, left for twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir in a cavalcade of 76 vehicles around at 0400 hours, officials said.

Over 3.15 lakh pilgrims have till now paid obeisance at the shrine and over 2.80 lakh pilgrims have returned back to their homes, they said.
