The cricket tri-series, beginning in Malaysia on Tuesday, is an "off-shore project" for India as they have financed the tournament in its entirety, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said.
"We have financed the tri-series 100 per cent," Shah said after inspecting the facilities at the newly laid out Kinrara Oval.
"The floodlights are up, the pitch is fine, just a couple of things are remaining," Shah told PTI adding that the floodlights alone cost the BCCI nearly USD 500,000.
Interestingly, BCCI would also pay appearance fees to West Indies and Australia, the other two teams in the fray in this day-night tournament.
"We will also be paying an appearance fees for West Indies and Australian teams of one million US dollars per match," Shah said.
Since BCCI was financing the whole event, Shah said it was like an "offshore project" for the board.
The BCCI Secretary also said that the high revenues to be acquired through television rights could be used to pay the participating countries.
As for the tournament proper, thousands of fans in South-East Asia, specially ethnic Indians in Malaysia, are eagerly waiting to see Sachin Tendulkar in action.
Tendulkar has been out of action since early this year following a shoulder injury. He was expected to make a comeback in Sri Lanka last month but rains washed off the entire tournament.
