Coming out in support of off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been reported for a suspect bowling action, the Indian Cricket Board on Monday said it would approach the International Cricket Council over the issue.
"We are surprised that every now and then they are asking him (Harbhajan) to go to a Judge (specialised ICC panel in the present case). We will certainly support Harbhajan," BCCI President Ranbir Singh Mahendra told PTI over phone.
The BCCI chief also pointed out that in the past Harbhajan had been cleared of suspect bowling action.
Harbhajan was reported for the second time in four months but would be eligible to play in the third cricket Test against Pakistan beginning on Thursday.
The spinner was reported for suspect action for his 'doosra', a delivery that spins away from a right-handed batsman, after the second Test against Pakistan in Kolkata.
He was reported by the umpires Darell Hair and Steve Bucknor and the Match Referee Chris Broad.
Harbhajan was cleared by the ICC to play in the ongoing Test series earlier this month after he was reported for his 'doosra' in the second Test against Bangladesh in December.
