In an epistle to party cadres, DMK President M Karunanidhi stoutly opposed the visit of Rajapaksa to India and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hosting a dinner in his honour.

Listing the help being rendered by China and Pakistan to Colombo in setting up various infrastructure facilities and military and air base, Karunanidhi said despite several forms of assistance being given by India, Sri Lanka was not keen on having friendly relations with India.

Noting India was well aware of the developments taking place in Sri Lanka in association with China and Pakistan, the DMK chief said the Indian government should wake up at least now and not fall prey to the evil designs of Colombo and Rajapaksa and take steps for early rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Tamils in the Island nation.
