A Pakistani sessions court has ordered a Taliban-type punishment to three people who robbed a bank.

Sahiwal additional district and sessions judge, Khalid Naveed Dar ordered the amputation of one hand and one foot each of Ghulam Nabi, Qalandar Bakhsh and Mumtaz Ahmed for robbing 60,000 rupees from a National Bank Branch, some 75 miles east of Multan.

As per the report, the trio raised the bank and decamped with the cash. Police arrested one of the accused for possessing an illegal weapon and interrogation revealed his involvement in the bank robbery. The incident happened on July 15, 2002.

He then revealed the identity of his other two accomplices who were later arrested by the authorities, reports the Daily Times.

Stranger is the fact that the judge handed out the hand-hacking punishment even though no one was injured in the robbery.
