BEYOND THE RAMP: LIFW Jottings
The Men in Blue are no longer the flavour of the month. But this didn't stop a few of them from sharing a bite and banter. Irfan Pathan, Mohammed Kaif and Harbhajan Singh were spotted talking style.
The fashion huddle
The Men in Blue are no longer the flavour of the month. But this didn't stop a few of them from sharing a bite and banter at The Grand's coffee shop. After rigorous ramp rehearsals and fittings sessions, Irfan Pathan, Mohammed Kaif and Harbhajan Singh were spotted talking style in what can only be described as a fashion huddle. Whether they were discussing the leggy models or John Wright's successor is anybody's guess.
Style across the frontier
Our neighbours across the border are enjoying the live telecast of the ongoing Lakme India Fashion Week. Pakistan's ARY Digital Network covered LIFW 2004 and received a great response. And they are back this year. "Nothing unites Indians and Pakistanis better than cricket, movies and fashion. We have a common heritage, historic linkages and the same culture," says ARY president and CEO Salman Iqbal. "We would also welcome Indian fashion houses to Pakistan," he adds.

When asked if a fashion week in Pakistan was on the horizon, Ravi Krishnan, Senior Vice President IMG remarked, "You never know!"
The casting pounce
A common sight at The Grand, venue of the Lakme India Fashion Week, are scruffy, brawny, strapping male models dressed in fluorescent green and orange tees with rippling muscles and unshaven faces. They park themselves strategically in the hotel lobby and pounce upon unsuspecting designers, particularly male ones, and ask them for a chance to walk the ramp. Spotted: Raghavendra Rathore and Rohit Gandhi trying to look through the wannabe models. The models, on their part, were seen reminding the designers of the last scintillating conversation they shared at a rocking party.
