The capital of Madhya Pradesh will see the Indian version of this international phenomena before the national capital witnesses it. Radhika Shingwekar from National Law University, Delhi and Swati Singh Bagel from National Law University, Bhopal, will pull an Umang Sabharwal, and organise the Bhopal Besharmi Morcha on July 17.

"There is a spurt in crime against women in Madhya Pradesh and in Bhopal too. And here also the mentality of officials is same as was reported in Toronto (Canada). So we decided to hold Besharmi Morcha here," Radhika Shingwekar told IANS.

"With this walk, we want to mobilise the youth in Bhopal. In India, most rape cases are not reported because of the social stigma attached to it, we ought to do something about it," she said. She has ample help from fellow law students and friends. However, it is not necessary to wear revealing clothes for the Besharmi Morcha, say organisers.

5,500 people have registered for the event online. Swati and Radhika feel about 10% of them would turn up. It has snowballed into a rather large scale event, judging by the response. Many men have also expressed a wish to participate in the event.

Hopefully, the Delhi chapter will soon follow suit.
