For Bhutanese queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, who is on a two-week private visit to India, it was a fulfilling day, doing what gives her maximum happiness - caring for poor children.
The 50-year-old India-educated queen radiated happiness and compassion as she chatted and laughed with deprived children and officials of Prayas, an NGO that deals with protection and rehabilitation of children from marginalized sections of society.
Ashi Dorji, writer, connoisseur and patron of the arts, visits India less than six months after King Jigme Singye Wangchuk came here on an official visit.
Her private visit underscores special warmth in the relations between the two countries and cultural bonds that glue the two.
"Her Majesty's visit will further strengthen the excellent relations that exist between the two countries," a statement by the Bhutanese embassy said.
Ashi Dorji will meet the ruling United Progressive Alliance chair Sonia Gandhi later this week and discuss with her a whole host of issues relating to women's empowerment.
They are also likely to exchange their notes on a common passion for the arts and culture.
