Actor Kim Cattrall (who plays the sexy siren Samantha Jones in Sex And the City) once said, “Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you, now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.”

To me, that is what epitomises the HBO series Sex and the City, which draws to an end this weekend after three years in India. Over the past few weeks, as the promos about the last few episodes aired, the truth hit me. It’s almost the end. All the advice, shoe trends (though delayed) and weird hairdos, not to mention weekly slurp sessions of delish men was nearly over.

To be honest, I don’t even remember when I got hooked to the show and never willingly agreed with general consensus that it was overated or “over-sexed”, as my friend called it.

Sure it was loud, like Carrie’s wardrobe (Sarah Jessica Parker), but below all that sparkle and NY glam were four best friends just trying to survive and get lucky.

They have become more than just characters on a critically acclaimed award-winning show. They have become my friends.

And to poach the subject of Carrie’s final choice, personally I hope she goes for Mr Big (Chris Noth) as opposed to the suave Russian lover Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov).

And to answer your question, no I don’t know who she chooses in the end and I have avoided that riddle for the better part of two years, so god help anyone if they let slip anytime before Sunday night.
