The website would be linked to all medical colleges, sadar hospitals, PHCs and other hospitals and moitor the punctuality and attendance of doctors and other health staff, besides having a track of the medical history of patients," Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.

"The prescription procedure in state hospitals will become transparent in 10-15 days’ time. A person can see the doctors’ line of treatment, medicines being prescribed, number of patients attended by him in a hospital once the website starts working. It will come in handy in ascertaining whether the medicines being prescribed to the patients visiting the state-run hospitals, including the PHCs, are upto the mark," he said.

The state cabinet had recently decided that the serving doctors would be prescribing generic medicines in the interest of poor patients. In its bid to bring down the cost of treatment, the state government had earlier advised doctors to prescribe generic drugs in the interest of poor patients. In almost all the government hospitals and health centers, doctors prescribe medicines’ brand names much to the chagrin of the patients.
