State government's seriousness towards the problem could be gauged from the fact that the breach in the embankment at Kusaha in Nepal is yet to be repaired, NCP General Secretary Tariq Anwar told reporters here.

The breach at Kusaha on August 18 last year had caused large scale devastation in five north Bihar districts -- Madhepura, Saharsa, Supaul,Purnea and Araria -- affecting a population of over 30 lakh.

Anwar said, as the government did not fix the last year's breach, the embankments continue to breach and the latest example being the breach of Bagamati embankment at Tilak Tajpur village in Sitamarhi district on Saturday last.

He said the government should break the contractor-engineer nexus failing which the embankments would continue to breach.
