To celebrate his 60th birthday, former US president Bill Clinton has organised a big charity programme spanning over three days during this month’s last weekend, including gala dinner, a private Rolling Stones concert, a golf game, lots of parties and a brunch.
While the gala dinner would be hosted at the Museum of Natural History, the Rolling Stones concert would be held at the Beacon Theatre.
Entry to the birthday bash would not be so easy, as one would have to shell out anything between 60,000 and five lakh dollars. Nearly 2100 invitations of the extravaganza have already gone out to Clinton’s vast network of donors, reported the New York Daily News.
"This is really a big fund-raiser for the foundation to support our programs around the world that is also a birthday celebration," the paper quoted Clinton’s spokesman Jay Carson as saying.
Only last week, Clinton had raised more than seven billion dollars in pledges for his "Clinton Global Initiative" to help alleviate poverty, reverse global warming and treat AIDS.
Clinton’s actual birthday was Aug 19, but he scheduled his birthday bash for Oct. 27-29 so as not to step on the toes of Democrats trying to raise cash for their fall campaigns.
