BJP announces list of 24 candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released names of 24 candidates for Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) elections to be held on May 15.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released names of 24 candidates for Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) elections to be held on May 15.

The list includes eight women candidates.

The names were finalised on Wednesday night at a meeting chaired by BJP state unit president Krishan Pal Gujjar in Gurgaon.

The party, which has decided to contest elections on its symbol of 'lotus', announced the list on Thursday morning only.

On Wednesday, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) became the first political party to announce its first list of 21 candidates for the municipal polls. Claiming that the mayor of MCG would emerge out of the victorious candidates of BJP, Vir Kumar Yadav, general secretary, BJP, Haryana said efforts were made to accommodate all castes and creeds of society.

Aspirant shot: No clue yet
More than 24 hours after a fatal attack on former councillor Binder Gujjar, that left his friend dead, the police are still clueless. Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants had opened fire on Gujjar and his aide Anil Kakran on Wednesday evening. Gujjar was seriously injured while Kakran died in the attack.
