In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the BJP, which is also in favour of separate Telangana state, said the region has been experiencing discrimination by successive governments.

The Telangana agitation has reached its crescendo and it was not confined to any one organisation or political party.

It has become a people's movement as students, intellectuals, employees and people in general joined the agitation making it more intense, the party said in its memorandum.

It said a separate state for Telangana would only end the continuous discrimination and injustice against the people of the region.
