BJP today appealed to the All Arunachal Students Union (AAPSU) to reconsider its call for boycott of the Lok Sabha polls on the vexed Chakma-Hajong issue keeping national interest in mind.
V Satish, In-charge of BJP's north eastern states, told a press conference here that the Chakma-Hajong refugee issue was a complex one and his party would try to find a permanent solution to the problem after the Lok Sabha election.
Since there was a PIL pending before the Guwahati high court, he did not want to comment on the issue, he added.
AAPSU, the powerful students body, has given a poll boycott call to protest the Election Commission order for inclusion of Chakma-Hajong refugees in the state electoral roll.
State Congress chief Mukut Mithi said yesterday that his party was prepared to boycott the Lok Sabha polls, as demanded by the All Arunachal Students Union, if the All-Party Core Committee on the Chakma-Hajong issue called a meeting and all political parties were unanimous in their decision to stay away from the election.
