While the BJP has got a headstart in campigning with its canditates for the two Lok Sabha constituencies announced, the Congress and NCP are still involved in a tussle over seat sharing in Goa.
Congress aspires to contest both North Goa and South Goa seats but the NCP has already staked claim for the North, which it had fought unsuccessfully last time.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Subhash Shirodkar during the last two weeks has stated several times that the candidates will be declared in next couple of days.
"By Monday candidates will be declared," he said, setting up another deadline on Saturday .
In NCP too, there are two different factions one led by Goa President Wilfred de Souza and another by Tourism Minister Fransisco alias Mickky Pacheco who have drawn their own list of candidates.
"We will wait for two more days and will decide our further course of action," D'Souza had told reporters on Thursday but is yet to reveal his cards.
The Congress party, on the other hand, is unwilling to allow NCP to contest the North Goa seat. The party has apparently shortlisted Speaker Pratapsingh Rane, former union law minister Ramakant Khalap, social activist and writer Vishnu Surya Wagh, industrialist Gurudas Natekar for North Goa.
