Former Jamshedpur (West) MLA and BJP leader Saryu Rai said on Sunday he would release the CD’s contents in a few days. Koda is in jail on corruption charges.

The CD is said to contain statements of an alleged Mumbai-based hawala dealer, Manoj Punamia, who is facing corruption charges in the cases in which Koda is involved.

“I am going through it (CD). It is about a conversation Punamia had with his associates in November last year about how difficult it was proving to placate Income-Tax Director (Investigation, Patna) Ujjawal Choudhary,” Rai said.

Rai alleged that Choudhary was shifted because there was evidence that politicians other than Koda were involved. “One of them is in the Jharkhand government (in which the BJP is a coalition partner),” Rai said.

Choudhary said on the phone: “The next officer (taking over) is very competent.”
