Lokayukta court judge N K Sudhindra Rao cacelled the bail of Sampangi, after the court found him guilty of threatening a witness.

The court further remanded him to judicial custody till tomorrow when the examination of the two witnesses in the case is completed. The two witnesses in the case are Farooq, who Sampamgi was found to have threatened, and Arun Kumar.

Sampangi was caught by the Lokayukta police in January 2009 at the legislator’s home while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from Hussain M Farooq, a businessman.

The legislator, who represents Kolar Gold Fields in the Karnataka assembly, was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and charges were framed against him earlier this year.

Farooq had earlier approached the High Court seeking cancellation of bail to Sampangi.

The committee had suggested that complainant Farooq be reprimanded for tarnishing the legislator’s image by making "false allegations" against him.
