BJP not untouchable; ready to accept support for Govt: Sangma

Senior NCP leader PA Sangma today said the BJP could not be termed as "untouchable" and said his party was ready to accept its support if it comes voluntarily to a form a government headed by Sharad Pawar. "Why not? If BJP voluntarily comes out and says it will support Sharad Pawar as Prime Minister, of course we will take their support," Sangma said.

"Why not? If BJP voluntarily comes out and says it will support Sharad Pawar as Prime Minister, of course we will take their support," Sangma told reporters when asked if the NCP would ask for BJP's support.

The former Lok Sabha Speaker said the BJP cannot be termed as "untouchable" as the party ruled the country for six years after getting elected.

"The BJP has ruled this nation for six years. They have been voted to power. How can you say that BJP is untouchable? Were the people who voted them to power communal?" he asked.

He also attacked Congress, alleging it was not trustworthy. Sangma said the NCP units of North East and Jammu and Kashmir had the "unanimous view that we (NCP) should have nothing to do with Congress."

"Sangma is hurt by the betrayal in Meghalaya. Congress has the use and throw policy. All leaders belonging to big or small parties have self respect, Congress has not realised that," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.
