Claiming that "misrule" by the UPA government has led to growing terrorism, price rise and corruption, BJP on Tuesday unveiled plans to launch a country-wide movement, with a rally in Bhubaneswar to be addressed by party president Nitin Gadkari on January 17.
"Due to misrule by the Congress-led UPA at the Centre, fear of terror, soaring prices of all commodities and corruption have gripped the people's mind," BJP national general secretary Anant Kumar told reporters in Bhubaneswar.
He said that the country was witnessing irregularities in all spheres, with Rs 1.76 lakh crore 2G spectrum scam, CWG scam and Adarsh housing scandals hitting the headlines.
The Bofors gun deal scandal has once again raised its head with Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) ruling that Rs 41.2 crore was paid as kickbacks, the BJP leader said, adding BJP would chalk out its strategy on the issue.
Though BJP has been demanding a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam, it was rejected by the Centre, he said, wondering why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was reluctant about it while saying he was ready to appear before the Public Accounts Committee.

A massive anti-corruption rally, 'Sangharsh ka Sankhanad' would be held here on January 17, on which BJP President Nitin Gadkari would make people aware of the scams affecting the country and the need to fight it, he said.

{{/usCountry}}Besides putting up a battle against corruption, the rally would also act as a platform to reinforce BJP as a powerful political force in Orissa as people from every nook and corners of the state would participate in it, Kumar said.
"We want BJP to emerge as an effective political alternative in Orissa," he said.
