If Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani is on Bharat Uday Yatra across the country, Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee rides a vikas rath (chariot of development) in the new BJP theme song adapted from the popular television serial Mahabharat.
The song, Mahashakti Bharat, Shaktishali Bhajapa, is based entirely on the BJP's Vision Document that promises to make India a superpower by 2020.
According to the song, Vajpayee is the parthasarathi (the charioteer like Lord Krishna) of development. The lyrics eulogise Pokhran II and pledge to usher in Ram rajya to eradicate poverty.
In all, 12 songs have been readied for the BJP's music campaign. About one lakh cassettes and CDs will be distributed to tea stalls and paan vendors across the country.
Singer Kumar Sanu, who joined the BJP recently, has sung Atalji ko dekha to aisa laga, an adaptation of his popular song from the film 1942: A Love Story.
In all six songs — others are from Lagaan, Koi Mil Gaya and Dil Chata Hai — have been adapted for the cassette, Bhajapa Lahar. Other singers featured include Anuradha Podwal and Sandhana Sargam.
A collection of four songs called Kamal Khil Gaya has been brought out by producer Devendra Khandelwal and music director Pranay Pradhan. These have been sung by Sudesh Bhonsle, Vinod Rathore, Rahul Seth, Munn Aziz, Sargam and Sanjeevani.

While releasing the cassettes and CDs on Friday, Naidu said the songs would also be played at the BJP rallies to convey the party's ideology.
Live shows have also been planned. Sanu will be accompanying Venkaiah Naidu for his meetings in Orissa and Assam.
