Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Thursday protested against the alleged irregularities in the Jammu Super Specialty Hospital (SSH).and raised slogans against medical education minister Taj Mohiuddin.
Hundreds of BJYM activists, led by its state president Ravinder Raina, protested against the Congress minister and burnt his effigy in front of the hospital at Resham Ghar in Jammu.
BJYM activists raised anti-Congress slogans and demanded an enquiry into the SSH scam through a sitting justice of the Supreme Court. They also demanded immediate dismissal of Mohiuddin from the cabinet.
Addressing the protesters in front of the hospital, Raina said, "The SSH is degraded and the style of functioning of Congress minister Taj Mohiuddin has destroyed the aims and objectives of this hospital."
He said that the minister concerned was trying to privatise the hospital under public-private partnership mode, and this was being done for "personal benefits".
He raised a question over the lapse of Rs 12 crore granted for the hospital during the last financial year, and allotment made after receiving only a single tender.
"Sub-standard material has been used in the construction of the SSH. No electrical earthlings were installed in the SSH, which recently led to a major fire in the operation theater. Right now, no operation theater is operational. It means that a huge portion from the Rs 135 crore meant for the SSH has been swindled," he said.

{{/usCountry}}Raina said that Mohiuddin had established three different offices, one each at the Super Specialty, Government Medical College and Chopra Nursing Home to earn illicit money.
Raina also demanded a thorough probe into the purchase of materials for the GMC and other hospitals during the tenure of Mohiuddin and his predecessor RS Chib.
