"The Home Ministry has extended the time for Research in Motion (RIM) by two months. We are periodically reviewing it," Raja told reporters here on the sidelines of a FICCI event here.

The Centre had threatened to block some of RIM's services in the country following concerns that militants might be using Blackberry smartphones to plan attacks.

The Home Ministry had set a deadline of August 30 for RIM to provide access to Indian authorities for monitoring Blackberry services.

RIM got a 60-day reprieve from the government to continue services in the country on the condition that the Canadian firm would have to ultimately set up a local server in order for its full services to continue beyond November.

RIM provides corporate email and instant messaging services to about one million users in the country.
