Raising the matter, senior BJP leader Hukum Singh alleged that the blast was the result of a conspiracy hatched by the Rai's murderers to kill the slain MLA's family members.

The local police is not conducting the investigation properly, Singh alleged and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Congress leader Pramod Tewari alleged that the blast took place when the gunner of the former BJP MLA and the slain MLA's wife Alka Rai was manufacturing a bomb to eliminate a legislator.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Lalji Verma said in his reply that the local police was investigating the matter and there was no reason to hand over the probe to CBI.

Independent MLA and an accused in the Rai murder case Mukhtar Ansari alleged that it was a conspiracy to kill him (Ansari) and foment communal violence.

Manoj is a key witness in murder case of the slain legislator in which independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari is the main accused.

Verma said that one Babudhan of Bihar, who was detained from the site, on interrogation revealed that Thakur had brought him to kill some MLA in Ghazipur.

The BJP members, however, staged a walkout after their demand for a CBI probe was rejected by the government.
