December is here and for many it will soon be time to party to welcome the New Year. Keeping this in mind, Inter-continental The Grand played host on Sunday in collaboration with the Thai embassy to launch their year-end extravaganza, which started from November 30.
The evening had scintillating dance performances by Laura, Cheryl and Maxine who were accompanied by Simon. The group specially flew in from Europe for the celebrations at the Blue Elephant, the hotel’s Thai restaurant. And it didn’t stop there! A team of Thai chefs headed by Chef Vinus Vattana prepared sumptuous starters.
“The party is fantastic. There are about 80 people, of whom 40 are from the diplomatic circuit. We’ve been having such month-long events particularly at the end of the year for the past four years and now it has become more of a tradition for us to have this event,” said vice-president, operations, and general manager, Inter-Continental The Grand, Michael D. Horsburgh.
What many didn’t want to miss was the dance performance. “We’ve got them flown especially for this gala. Three more groups will be simultaneously performing at our hotels in Mumbai, Bangalore and Goa,” informed Horsburgh. It was hard to miss people raving about their performances, especially Rajika Horsburgh, who came dressed in a bright suit.
Ambassador of Thailand Chirasak Thanesnant was seen enjoying the delicacies, as was the wife of Captain Graivut Vattanatham, defence and naval attaché, Royal Thai embassy. Spanish Ambassador Don Rafael Conde seemed in high spirits with his wife who was elegantly dressed in red and black.
Also spotted: First secretary, Royal Thai embassy Arunrung Phothong; and general manager, marketing, Air Sahara, Nikhil Dhodapkar, who seemed to be engrossed in conversation with Roger Page of Air Sahara.
