Mayor sunil Sood on Saturday issued directives to building permission officials to resume drive against the illegal use of basements in MP Nagar.

The BMC had identified several basements, which are being used for purpose other than the stipulated use. According to building officials, a proposal in this regard will be sent to the BMC Commissioner. It may take about a fortnight to reach a final decision in this regard.

During the drive against the illegal use of the basements, about a dozen basements were targeted. However, the drive was stopped after Minister for Urban Administration and Development Jayant Malaiya visit to the MP Nagar.

After his visit, the BMC officials said the basements of only big size plots would be covered under the drive. However, the action was altogether stopped.
