AFTER THE last date for submission of applications for fresh recruitments in Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC) expired today, the hospital’s agitating staff said that none of them have applied for reappointment while the management maintained that they would not be taken back in job without facing a fresh interview.
“We shall consider them if they apply for appointment afresh. Since they have resigned, it is a legal requirement. There will not be any adverse impact on their salary or seniority but they will have to face interview”, said local trustee of BMHRC Trust Aziz Ahmed Siddiqui.
He further said that the strikers will also have to tender apology for their conduct. “The Supreme Court has said that lawlessness should be dealt with iron hand in such institutions but we have done nothing against them.
However, they will have to account for what they have done”, Siddiqui said. He said that the Trust has received 2,000 applications so far and they are being sorted out. The Trust would try for interview and fresh appointments as early as possible, he added.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, representatives of different political parties, social workers, representatives of gas NGOs and some other eminent citizens met at Acharya Narendra Dev hall here today to discuss possible ways to break the BMHRC impasse. Underlining the urgent need for restoration of normalcy in the hospital, they decided to form an action committee to work towards this purpose.
Senior BJP leader Kailash Sarang will be chairman of the committee. It was felt at the meeting that after the staff has relented on their demands, the BMHRC Trust has no reason to prolong the crisis by not allowing them to work and insisting on fresh appointments. They also assured the BMHRC staff that their grievances would be raised from appropriate fora.
The action group is likely to meet the Governor and the Chief Minister tomorrow to demand that they intervene for reopening of hospital immediately. Those who attended the meeting included Umashankar Gupta, M W Siddiqui, Savita Vajpayee, P C Sharma, Kailash Sarang, Balkrishna Namdev, Rachna Dheengra, Alok Pratap Singh and L S Hardenia.
