A live bomb was found on a platform of the Farrukhabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, prompting authorities to evacuate the area and call in a bomb squad.

People found the device on platform number one of the railway station after hearing a beeping sound emanating from it. Witnesses said the bomb was wrapped with tape and had a circuit and a timer device.
After being informed by people about the bomb, Government Railway Police personnel cordoned off the railway station. Officials said the movement of people in and around the station had been completely restricted.
A bomb disposal squad was sent to Farrukhabad from Kanpur to defuse the explosive device, officials said.
The route of several trains was changed following the discovery of the bomb.
