A bomb hidden with a dead body exploded in north Sri Lanka on Friday, injuring seven people, including three schoolgirls and a policeman, the Defence Ministry said.

The explosion took place near the northern town of Vavuniya when police went to investigate a dead body near an abandoned, three-wheel taxi.

Police were suspicious about the three-wheeler and prevented reporters from going near to take photographs. The blast took place as the journalists were arguing with police to seek access.
