Two suspended officials Rane and Digambar Satam had last week moved ABA apprehending arrest in the case.

Rane, who was posted as junior engineer, and Satam, as sub engineer in 2008 with buildings and factories department of G North word, are accused of conniving with the accused and of submitting a false report on the complaint filed by advocate Rizwan Merchant about the structural changes made by the accused persons.

Merchant, the complainant in the case who lost three of the family members in the incident, had alleged that in 2008, the tenants had filed a complaint with BMC for illegal alteration and construction done by the owner of the car showroom Sundeep Bafna.

Merchant had alleged that Rane, who was asked to inspect the building, had given a false report stating there was no illegal construction and alteration.

The advocate for the officials argued that these officials were not in the concerned ward after 2010 as they were transferred then after.

Merchant objecting ABA contended that the accused being officials of BMC are in position to access the papers and temper with the evidence.

Meanwhile, the court granted ABA to Satam observing that he has no nexus with the case.
