Various Brahmin organisations have hailed government's decision to defer the Kashmiri Hindus Shrines and Temples Bill and refer it to the joint select committee of both Houses of Jammu and Kashmir legislature for detailed consideration.
In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, Brahmins United Federation president Inderjeet Khajuria, All-India Brahmin Federation former president Davinder Sharma, Dehati Brahmin Sabha president Om Prakash Sharma, Dogra Pujari Shastri and Jyotshi Sangh president Rampal Shastri, sessions judge (retd) KK Paroch among others, said that in view of lack of consensus in the state assembly over the Bill, the passage of the bill in a haste, without taking into consideration and addressing the concerns of stake holders, would have been harmful for the Hindu society.
The signatories to the statement have hailed the legislators of Jammu, belonging to the BJP, Panthers Party, JSM, and some Congress leaders, including cabinet minister Sham Lal Sharma and Chenani MLA Krishan Lal Bhagat for "foiling the conspiracy to divide the Hindu society between Kashmiri Hindus and Jammu Hindus", by adopting the bill.
The statement added that after the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley, some religious bodies as well as care takers and trusts of some temples and shrines continued protecting the religious places under them.

{{/usCountry}}The statement added that removing Dogra imprint on religious places of Hindus in Kashmir, where many temples and shrines have been constructed and created by non-Kashmiri Hindus, by handing over the management of all these temples and shrines exclusively to the Kashmiri Pandits, was a "dangerous proposal, having wide ramifications".
