These views were expressed by Prof Namvar Singh while speaking at the inaugural session of the National Seminar on ‘Samkalinata Ka Prashna Aur Hindi Sahitya’ jointly organised by AU Hindi Department and Indian Institute of Advance Study, Shimla, here on Friday.

Prof Singh said that it was desirable to be time oriented besides being capable to break the shackles of time.

Convenor of the seminar Prof Dudhnath Singh said that the essence of contemporary events was always imbued with insight and aesthetics. In this age of globalisation and market-oriented economy strong efforts are required to devise a new meaning, importance and definition of the “Samkalinata”.

Senior poet and critic Ashok Bajpayee during the inaugural session said that self constraint was a must and the rate of change should be brought down in the society where capitalism has become dominant.

Prof Anand Prakash from Delhi University said that Samkalinata was that space where Capitalism and Marxism both struggled for existence.Renowned critic and writer Om Prakash Valmiki said that negligence of Dalit Literature by the non-Dalit readers was a matter of great concern. Several other renowned scholars expressed their views .

on the occasion including Prof Pradeep Saxena of Aligarh Muslim University, Nilabh, senior journalist Vijay Mohan Singh and others.
