Britain calls Vajpayee's China visit a 'landmark'

British Ambassador to China Sir Christopher Hum said it would pave the way for increased trade ties between the two countries.

Describing Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's ongoing visit to China as a "land mark" visit, British Ambassador to China Sir Christopher Hum has said it would pave the way for increased trade between the two countries.

"China is moving in a constructive way and this visit of your Prime Minister (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) is very much a land mark visit," Sir Hum told a group of Indian journalist here on Wednesday evening.

Vajpayee is currently on a six-day visit to China which concludes on Friday.

"The visit will help gradually improve and increase bilateral trade and the visit is absolutely part of the trend," Sir Hum said.
