Police recovered brown sugar costing about rupees one crore in Srinagar. SSP Srinagar, SA Mujtaba, told media persons on Monday that after specific information, a police party laid trap at Bagyas against drug-peddlers and during the process arrested a drug-peddler Abdul Majeed Rather. He said that a packet containing 1000 grams of brown sugar was recovered from him.

"The person has been booked and case FIR No 12/07 U/S 17 NDPS Act has been registered against him," he said.

He said that another person Ajaz Ahmad Qazi was arrested with Brown Sugar worth Rs 70 lakh at Chattabal quarter of the city. He said that besides, this as a drive against the misuse of drugs, that is, Corex and other syrups, Spasmoproxvan tablets -- which are frequently being used by the addicts -- have been seized under section 550 Cr PC. "The campaign against the drug addicts in other parts of the city will continue," he said.
