The Border Security Force has intensified its vigil and stepped up patrolling along the 856 km long porous Indo Bangladesh border in Tripura in wake of on Monday's parliamentary elections in the neighbouring nation.
Three companies of BSF, who were deployed in Kashmir during the assembly elections there, were flown to Tripura on Sunday.
Contingents of the BSF deployed in Jharkhand and Mizoram were brought back to the state for effectively guarding the border in the wake of the Bangladesh polls, BSF DIG A K Singh told reporters in Agartala on Monday.
No additional forces were deployed on the border, Singh clarified, adding that altogether 19 companies of BSF who were in other states were brought back for deployment on the border to check infiltration and intrusion of criminals, smugglers or terrorists.
The BSF earlier, in a statement said that some religious fundamentalists were using the Tripura border as a corridor to enter Indian territory.

{{/usCountry}}On Wednesday last, police had arrested 32 Bangladeshi nationals working as labourers in a brick kiln at Champamura in the outskirts of Agartala.
Following the arrests, the state Home department also sounded an alert and cautioned BSF regarding possible entry of Bangladeshis on or before the general elections there.
