BSP MLA's son, two accomplices arrested

Son of a former BSP MLA accused of killing two persons and looting a local jeweller in broad daylight was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police this evening along with two of his accomplices.

Son of a former BSP MLA accused of killing two persons and looting a local jeweller in broad daylight on Tuesday, was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police this evening along with two of his accomplices.

Anand Patel, son of former BSP MLA Ram Dev Patel, and two of his associates Surendra Yadav and Ramesh Varma, all the three in their mid 20s, were arrested by the Special Operation Group (SOG) after a raid conducted at Khajurdeeh village in Mahrua police station area this evening, Incharge of the SOG team S N Gupta said.

A bag full of jewellery, an Italian pistol used in the murders and some country-made weapons were also recovered from their possession, he said.

The trio attacked a local jeweller Ameer Chand Jaiswal in the heart of the city under Kotwali Akbarpur police station area on Tuesday afternoon, he said.

Anand Patel allegedly shot Jaiswal from point blank range, killing him on the spot before snatching his bag full of jewellery from him.

While he and his accomplices were running away from the spot a local youth tried to chase them but was allegedly shot dead by Patel, the SOG inchrage said.
