VICTORY of the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate in Kauriram block pramukh election has shocked Samajwadi Party activists who were celebrating the victory of the party candidate Rambhual Nishad in the Kauriram assembly by-election. BSP candidate Anita Singh defeated SP candidate Sunita Yadav by a margin of 63 votes.
It may be noted that the Election Commission had postponed the date for block pramukh election in Kauriram from March 25 to March 28 as the date clashed with the polling date of assembly by-election.
In view of the announcement of a new date, the polling for block pramukh election in Kauriram was held on March 28 but SP candidate Sunita Yadav did not participate in the election and wrote a letter to the district magistrate and election office that the BSP candidate and her supporters were threatening to kill her.
According to reports, a total of 68 members who used their franchise. Out of these 68, BSP candidate Anita Singh bagged the support of 63 members.
Sources said that the district magistrate had informed the Election Commissioner regarding the latest position and the SP workers were hoping that the Election Commission would postpone the election.
District unit president of the party Chandrabali Yadav said the party candidate abstained from participating in voting to avoid a clash. The SP men said that two votes were cast in favour of the SP candidate by the BSP supporters in a planned way.
