DEDICATING THE ICTSL-launched bus services to the people at a function held here this evening, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that it would revolutionise public transport system in the State.
He also made a formal announcement for launching special bus services for women on main routes of the City. He asked ICTSL to look for women drivers and conductors for the special buses that would be launched within a fortnight.
Expressing hope that Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL) would serve as a role model for entire country, he said Indore would emerge as an ideal City for trade and commerce as well.
He recalled his student days when he had to take State transport buses to reach his school in Bhopal that required umbrellas to be opened during rains as the bus roof tops leaked. “But I am happy to see the modern ICTSL buses that are comfortable and stick to the time schedule,” he said. He commended district administration for launching an innovative, sustainable public transport system based on public-private partnership.

He said that ICTSL would introduce mono or sky rail within two and half years to connect City periphery and outer areas with inner locations.
Presiding over the function, State Public Works Department Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that 37 buses were the first step to fulfil the City’s requisition of public transport buses and half dozen metro rails. “It’s a dream come true, as the previous Municipal Council had taken the decision to introduce City bus services,” he said while commending District Collector, SDM Chandramauli Shukla among others for providing an effective bus service.
He said that the State Government has recommended Aggarwal’s name for IAS Officer Award instituted by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and for which Centre had invited nominations from State Government.
Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma presented vote of thanks in the end. Chief Minister presented mementoes to bus operators and agencies contracted for installing GPS system.
